In an increasingly interconnected world, theology and mission are no longer one-sided, but take place in intercultural dialogue. This event offers students the opportunity to engage with theological and missiological issues in the context of Philippine cultures. The focus is on local experiences, encounters with local churches, theological institutions, and grassroots communities. The aim is to gain new perspectives on faith, church, and mission in global Christianity and to broaden one’s own theological reflection.
The summer school begins with a one-week “exposure” phase in a Philippine diocese. During this phase, participants live with local host families and gain insights into the realities of life as well as current social and church issues and problems. The practical experiences flow into the subsequent “enclosure” phase at Ateneo, a Jesuit-run university in Quezon City.
